Faucet · Brian Walsh
Customer's faucet, failing shutoff valves
Sales director working from home today, in and out of calls. Wants this handled quickly.
What you know walking in
Scheduled install. Customer bought a new pull-down kitchen faucet and wants it installed today. Two-story home built in 1994. Not a member.
- Customer-supplied pull-down kitchen faucet, 0 yrs
- Two multi-turn shutoff valves under the kitchen sink, 32 yrs
- Old kitchen faucet
What you found
- The hot shutoff under the sink does not close all the way. Water keeps flowing with the handle turned off.
- The cold shutoff leaks at the stem when it is turned. It may keep dripping after the install.
- To swap the faucet safely, the water to the whole house has to be shut off at the main.
- The new faucet and the sink are in good shape. It is a single-hole install with a deck plate.
